MAINTENANCE
General information
This section describes the operations required to
correctly service your tractor. These instructions are of
an informative nature since they can vary according to
the climatic conditions and type of work performed.
They may therefore be liable to variations that only
common sense and the operators experience can
establish.
Always perform the maintenance and lubrication
operations at the intervals indicated in the Routine
Maintenance Guide.
Engine
Use Supplement 3 detergent oil for the engine as
specified in the corresponding table in the Routine
Maintenance Guide.
Detergent oils contain additives to minimize corrosion,
oil oxidation and sludge formation. Detergent oils also
help disperse the carbon compound formed during
combustion.
In view of its wear-proofing properties during the
running-in period, there will be a slight delay in
bedding the piston rings and, consequently, a slightly
higher oil consumption. This will return to normal when
the rings have finally bedded.
Always change the oil at the specified intervals. Oil
gradually loses its lubricant properties as combustion
residues form and the oils molecular chains break
down.
WARNING
: It is advisable to change the oil
after 6 months even if the established work
hours have not been reached during that
period.
WARNING
: To ensure the engine is correctly
lubricated, remember to only use genuine filter
cartridges. Spurious spares can compromise the
correct operation and life of the engine.
Wet air filter
Air filter maintenance depends on the amount of dust in
the place where the engine works. (Fig. 45-46) It is
advisable to check the oil level in the air filter daily or at
variable times. This operation should be carried out with
the engine having been left at a standstill for at least 15
minutes so that the oil absorbed by the cartridge can
settle again in the sump. The oil must reach the
reference mark on the sump itself (A). Check the
transparent cup of the prefilter (B) and clean it if
necessary.
Change the air filter oil at variable intervals or when the
deposits at the bottom have built up to an 8 to 10 mm
layer, or when the oil has become too thick. Use the
same type of oil as the engine in the filter. When the
oil in the air filter is changed, also clean the cartridge
(C) with diesel fuel, taking great care to thoroughly dry
it before it is refitted.
