Note: If the cleaning of the light guide does not have the desired effect,
the light guide has to be replaced .
Mount the flow cell onto the detector .
8.5 Replacing the fiber optics
UV light will cause the fiber optics to become blind with time (solariza-
tion), making them no longer suitable for use .
Note: Observe the following regarding the use of fiber optics:
ƒ
Do not touch the ends of the fiber optics with your fingers, as this
could falsify the measurement .
ƒ
Handle the fiber optics with care and avoid impacts .
ƒ
Move the fiber optics carefully without using pressure or bending it .
Detector is switched off .
