a. Power on the NSM4000 appliance.

b. As soon as the NSM4000 appliance starts powering on, press the key that you

have mapped in the terminal emulation utility to send the DEL character. In a few
cases, this would be the Backspace key.

NOTE:

If the hard disk LEDs begin to flash at this point for more than

a few seconds, the NSM4000 appliance is booting from the hard disk
instead of the USB drive, and the BIOS menu will not be loaded. In this
case, you need to power down the NSM4000 appliance and repeat
this step.

If you are successful in accessing the BIOS setup, the boot menu appears after
about one minute.

Ensure that the USB boot is at the top of the NSM4000 appliance boot priority order.
If the USB label is not at the top of the list:

•

Use the down arrow to select the USB label and use the + key to move the entry to
the top of the list.

•

Press the F10 key to save your changes and exit the BIOS setup.

The NSM4000 appliance automatically restarts and uses the new boot order,
thereby booting from the USB drive.

Installing the NSM4000 ISO Image on the NSM4000 Appliance

This section provides the information necessary to install the NSM4000 ISO Image using
the USB drive on the NSM4000 appliance.
