III.2 Checking or Operating the AR861S Acoustic Actuator
The aim of these operations is to check the good operating state of the acoustic actuator
AR861S prior any use of the HD-55 Heavy Duty unit.

Step Action
1.
Choose the “ DIAGNOSTIC ” code as the CMD code.
2.
Proceed through step 2 , use Telemetry command and PRF frequency and step 3.
3.
Acoustic device returns to the TT801 deck set CAF and acoustic pulses (Pulse to Pulse
modulation) to transmit information about voltage of the main battery pack and verticality
indication which are posted up on the TT801 display.
4.
End of procedure.
Vertical Position means that the main axis of the beacon housing is vertical, with the
upper Acoustic I/O endplate looking upwards.

Step Action
1.
First initialize the surface remote control equipment and the receiver mode as indicated
in the TT301B User Guide. Place the dunking transducer head of TT301B deck set close
to the acoustic head of the AR861S acoustic actuator.
2.
Key-in the 4-digit RANGING code (See individual AR/RT 861 Factory Acceptance Test
or the label of the AR 861S).
3.
Press the SAFETY key on the keyboard (This function sets a 2 to 3 seconds timer so
that the control function can be transmitted).
4.
Press the COMMAND key to send the remote control code (This function is active only
for 2 to 3 seconds after the SAFETY key has been pressed).
As soon as the acoustic actuator has received the remote control code, the “RECEIVED”
indicator lamp should light up on the front panel and the data displayed should post-up
the slant range between surface unit and acoustic actuator.
