Chapter 8 Configuration & Management
Having assigned an IP address to your EasyLAN 100i, as described
in
Chapter 3 “Basic Installation; Assigning an IP address”
, you
can change the EasyLAN 100i parameter settings using the File
Transport Protocol (FTP).
Editing the config file
Follow the instructions below to edit the config file using FTP:
1. Create a directory on the hard disk in a DOS window (Windows
and OS/2) or in a UNIX shell window, e.g.:
c:/md <directory name>
2. Select this directory to receive data via ftp, e.g.:
c:/cd <directory name>
c:/<directory name>ftp
3. Log in to the EasyLAN 100i by typing:
ftp <host name>
or
ftp <IP address>
4. Enter the user id and the password. (The default entries are
root
and
pass
.)
5. Download the config file to your host by typing:
get config
6. Edit the file using your preferred text editor.
7. Save the config file to the EasyLAN 100i by typing:
put config CONFIG
Notes:
It is important that the destination file is specified in capital let-
ters. Otherwise the edits are temporary and will be lost once the
EasyLAN 100i has been powered down.
The example on next page shows how to edit the config file using
FTP from a DOS window.
