Flash Memory
The print server software is stored in Flash Memory. This memory
is provided by a silicon chip that like any other ROM device, retains
data content even after power is removed. However, Flash Memory
is unique because it allows its data to be erased and re-written. This
means that you can install software updates for your server as soon
as they become available, without having to replace any parts. The
new software is simply loaded into the server over the network.
