96 Chapter 8 - Troubleshooting

Video Errors

ERROR - System powered on, but screen remains blank.

Reason

Solution

Monitor not powered on.

Turn power on to monitor.

Monitor power cord not
connected.

Connect the monitor power cord
to AC outlet and monitor.

Video cable not properly installed.

Ensure the video cable is installed
in monitor and base unit.

Graphics board disconnected from
riser card socket.

Open the base unit and reseat
graphics board.

Faulty cable connection.

Check the cable connections from
the system board to GLZ board,
and from GLZ board to monitor.

ERROR - Video displays during boot up, but not when Windows

NT initializes.

Reason

Solution

Resolution selected is not
supported by the installed monitor.

Select a supported resolution.
Refer to your system’s Online
Reference for resolution details for
each graphics option.

Improper graphics driver is
loaded.

Remove the driver and load a
valid driver. Refer to Intergraph’s
system software configuration
documentation for details.

GLZ board is not installed
properly. (Windows NT high
resolution mode only).

Verify the GLZ board or module
is installed correctly. Refer to the
GLZ user guide delivered with the
workstation.

Other Hardware Errors

ERROR - CD-ROM drive LED does not light.

CD-ROM drive power cable is not
attached.
