Getting Started

2.3.3

Providing Power

The ZT 5085 may be ordered with either an AC or DC power option.The power input panel
configuration must match the voltage input configuration of the power supplies intended for use
with the system. See

Figure 11, “ZT 5085 AC Power Input Panel (P1)” on page 25

and

“ZT 5085 DC Power Input Panel (P2)” on page 27

for connector locations.

The ZT 5085 must be connected to properly rated supplies. For permanently connected equipment,
a readily accessible disconnect device should be incorporated in the building wiring installation.
Circuit breakers should be rated to handle the current indicated in the input specifications listed on
the product identification label at the rear of the ZT 5085. Refer to

Chapter 4, “Power Subsystem”

for more information about providing power to the ZT 5085 platform.

Warning:

Always ensure that the system is properly grounded before applying power. Always use a grounded
outlet to supply power to AC systems. Always use a power cable with a grounded plug.

Warning:

When the system is plugged in, high voltages are present on the midplane. Do not reach into the
enclosure.

Warning:

Mixing models of power supplies is not supported, and could damage the system. Use only power
supplies approved by Intel for use in the system.

2.3.3.1

Connecting AC Power (P1 Option)

1. Ensure that the power standby switch is in the “standby” (

) position. See

for

switch location.

2. Remove the power service panel cover.

3. Connect chassis ground cables to the chassis ground terminals.

4. Connect the power cords to the AC power receptacles at the back of the enclosure, and engage

the cable retention device.

5. Plug the power cords into a grounded AC outlets capable of supplying appropriate power.

Section 4, “Power Subsystem” on page 47

for more information about the ZT 5085’s

redundant power model. AC input power is provided via four IEC connectors labeled A1, AC
Input Receptical.B1, A2, and B2. See

Figure 11, “ZT 5085 AC Power Input Panel (P1)” on
