Installing Macintosh PPD Files
Considerations and Limitations
„
The Imagistics Macintosh PPD (PostScript Printer Description) file
contains information about controller-specific features and works in
conjunction with the standard Macintosh LaserWriter printer driver
(version 8.6.5 or higher for Mac OS 9.2).

If the Macintosh PPD sit file is used (Mac OS 9), it is compressed in
the StuffIt format. It automatically decompresses when it is copied to
the
System Folder: Extensions: Printer Descriptions
folder, providing the
StuffIt program is installed on the workstation. The Mac OSX PPD is
not compressed and can be copied directly into
Macintosh HD\
Library\Printers\PPDs\Contents\Resources\en.lproj
.

The controller supports both LPR and AppleTalk printing from
Macintosh systems.
„
Enable Macintosh printing from the LCD touch screen or by using
Printer Utility. Refer to Setting Up Macintosh Printing on page 183
for instructions.

To use LPR/LPD printing, also enable LPD printing from Printer
Utility.
Prerequisites
1 If the uncompressed Imagistics PPD (for OSX) file is used, go to step
Step 4. Otherwise, continue with step Step 2.
2 Drag the PPD Stuffit file, Imagistics_ipc1-im8130.sit, from the ipc1-
im8130 Client CD-ROM to the client workstation desktop.
3 Double-click the stuffed file icon on the desktop to open it. To extract
the Macintosh PPD file, you must have the Stuffit utility on the client
system. Continue with step 5.
4 Select and drag the language folder containing the Imagistics_ipc1-
im8130.PPD file to the Desktop.
5 Enable Macintosh LPR printing or Macintosh Appletalk printing. Both
methods are described in detail in Installing Macintosh PPD Files
on page 38.
