The position of the clear space is illustrated in
Fig. 1.5. Notice that the side of the engraved line
where the clear space must be allowed depends on
whether a normal or lateral reversal scan is to be
made.
Originals are mounted directly onto the drum surface
using a proprietary scanner tape. The exact method
of mounting originals depends on whether they are
transmission or reflection copy type. Both types are
described below.
A special drum cradle is supplied with the
360
to
help with mounting originals. This should always be
used to ensure correct mounting. The drum cradle is
shown in Fig. 1.6.
For normal scanning the drum should be placed in
the cradle with the drum boss to the right. For lateral
reversal scanning the drum boss should be to the
