If your

360

scanner system has the Scan

Xact

Background

scanning option, it is supplied with a

special PCI SCSI Bus Master card which must be
fitted inside the Macintosh workstation. The

360

scanner must be connected directly to this card while
all other SCSI devices remain connected to the
standard built-in SCSI port on the Macintosh.

Caution: Background scanning may not work

correctly unless the scanner is connected
directly to the PCI SCSI card.

1. Ensure that the Macintosh workstation is

powered off but still connected to its mains
outlet socket. Turn off the power to the
mains outlet socket at the wall.

2. If you have the

scanning option

fit the supplied PCI SCSI Bus Master card
to the Macintosh as follows:

a. Remove the cover from the Macintosh

computer.

b. Wear an anti-static wrist strap with the

end earthed to suitable metalwork on the
Macintosh.

Alternatively, keep one hand in contact with
the Macintosh power supply throughout the
procedure.

c. Remove the PCI SCSI Bus Master card

from its anti-static bag and carefully fit it
to a spare PCI slot.

Ensure that the card is fully located in the slot.

d. Replace the Macintosh cover.
