Removing a 2x2 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS backplane
To remove a 2x2 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS backplane from the I/O enclosure,
complete the following steps.

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
2. If the system-board tray is installed in a chassis, remove it (see “Removing the
system-board tray from a 2U chassis” on page 75).
3. Remove the I/O enclosure from the system-board tray (see “Removing an
expansion enclosure from a system-board tray” on page 73).
4. Carefully set the I/O enclosure on a flat, static-protective surface.
5. Make note of where the drives are installed; then, remove them (see “Removing
a 2.5-inch hot-swap hard disk drive” on page 88).
Attention:
If the server has an optional RAID adapter and you have installed
or removed a hard disk drive, see the documentation that comes with the RAID
adapter for information about reconfiguring the disk arrays.
6. Make note of where the cables are attached to the backplane; then, disconnect
them.
7. Remove the screws that secure the 2x2 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS backplane to
the I/O enclosure and save them for future use.
8. Pull the 2x2 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS backplane off the locating pins and out of
the I/O enclosure.
9. If you are instructed to return the 2x2 2.5-inch hot-swap SAS backplane, follow
all packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are
supplied to you.
