Removing a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage
To remove a 2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage, complete the following steps.
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
on page 71.
2. If hard disk drives are installed in the 2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage that you plan
to remove, make a note of where the drives are installed; then, remove them
(see “Removing a 2.5-inch hot-swap hard disk drive” on page 88).
3. If the system-board tray is installed in a chassis, remove it (see “Removing the
system-board tray from a 2U chassis” on page 75).
4. If the 2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage is installed in an expansion enclosure drive
bay, complete the following steps:
a. Make a note of where the cables are attached; then, remove them.
b. Pull up on the release lever at the top of the drive bay; then, grasp the
2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage and pull it out of the front of the drive bay.
5. If the 2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage is installed in the system-board tray drive
bay, complete the following steps:
a. If an expansion enclosure is installed, remove it (see “Removing an
expansion enclosure from a system-board tray” on page 73); otherwise,
remove the system-board tray cover (see “Removing the system-board tray
cover” on page 121).
b. Make a note of where the cables are attached; then, remove them.
c. Pull up on the release lever at the top of the drive bay; then, grasp the
2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage and pull it out of the front of the drive bay.
6. If you are instructed to return the 2.5-inch hot-swap drive cage, follow all
packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are
supplied to you.
