Removing a microprocessor/memory card
To remove a microprocessor/memory card, complete the following steps.

1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and
all external cables necessary to replace the device.
3. Remove the top cover (see “Removing the top cover” on page 41).
4. Slide the retention tabs to the open position and lift the retention levers on the
top of the microprocessor/memory card.
5. While you hold the retention levers open, lift the microprocessor/memory card
out of the server.
6. If necessary, remove all DIMMs (see “Removing a DIMM” on page 48).
7. If you are instructed to return the microprocessor/memory card, follow all
packaging instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are
supplied to you.
