STEERING SPINDLE AND SUPPORT

"Hornet" and "Wasp" Series

The steering spindle support is attached to 
the control arms by pivot pins and conven-
tional internal external threaded bushings. 
The pivot pins are locked into place by wedge 
type lock pins (Fig. 14).

 The steering spindle is attached to the 
spindle support by a steering spindle pivot 
pin and locked to the pivot pin with the 
steering arm.

 End thrust on the spindle pivot pin is 

absorbed by ball bearings (7) between the 
upper end of the pivot pin and the upper 
support bushing cap.

 The pivot pin oil seals are located in 
grooves between the spindle and support.

 A relief valve is installed in the lower 
expansion plug to relieve excessive lubricat-
ing pressures. Lubricate the pivot pin until 

lubricant comes out of the valve
