After aligning the slots in the countershaft
and the reverse idler shaft, position the
countershaft gear assembly and drive the counter-
shaft in place. Then insert the lock plate in
position (Fig. 51) .

shaft and install snap rings. Then place the
main shaft in the case from the rear. Install
the first and reverse sliding gear on the main
shaft (Fig. 52).
NOTE: To avoid hardship in assembling,
the first and reverse sliding gear should
be installed on the main shaft a number
of times while out of the case.
