4.1 Connecting an Audio Input Device

Study the terminal audio input interfaces before connecting the terminal to an audio input device
so that connections can be made quickly and properly.

Table 4-1

 describes the types of audio input interfaces and supported audio sources.

4.1.1 Connecting a VPM210 Microphone Array

When cascading the HUAWEI VPM210 microphone arrays (VPM210s or microphone arrays
for short), ensure that the connection between the primary and secondary microphone arrays is
proper.

The microphone array can work with the HUAWEI 9000 HD terminal series. Each terminal can
support the cascading of up to three VPM210s. When two or three VPM210s are cascaded, one
functions as the primary microphone array and the others as the secondary microphone arrays.
The audio data collected by the secondary microphone arrays is sent to the primary microphone
array for mixing. After the data for the left and right audio channels is generated, the primary
microphone array sends the data to the terminal. Note that a microphone array is assigned as
primary array not due to any scientific reasoning but for logical purposes and that a primary
microphone array is not necessarily the microphone array that is nearest to the HD terminal.

Status Indicators on the VPM210

The status indicators can indicate the current working status of the VPM210 quickly.
