
This section describes the node and port identifiers presented by FC, iSCSI, and
SAS storage systems.
Each controller has a unique, permanent node WWN. Each controller host port has
a unique port WWN that is based on the node WWN. The WWN format is:

– 0 for a node; the port number for a port.
– 0 for controller A; 8 for controller B.
– 0 for a node; 0 for the first ID on each port per controller.
– The manufacturer’s unique identifier, composed of six hex digits.
– A serial number derived from the last six hex digits of the
midplane serial number.
The following table shows example node WWNs and port WWNs. Notice that the
node WWNs differ in the fourth digit and, for a given controller, the port WWNs
differ in the second digit.
