Memory Mode Options
Advanced ECC mode with a single memory board
— Install an additional memory board to double the memory
Dual-Board Hot-Plug Memory Mirroring mode
— Install an additional memory board to use for mirroring protection
— Change the memory board currently used for mirroring protection to use for
additional memory
IMPORTANT:
Hot-Add is not supported when the server is in Online Spare mode or Single-
Board Memory Mirroring mode.
DIMM Installation Requirements
In addition to the DIMM configuration requirements for advanced ECC memory,
both memory boards must be configured identically. Corresponding banks (for
instance, bank A on the memory board in slot 1 and bank A on the memory board in
slot 2) must be populated with DIMMs of the same capacity.
If any DIMM configuration errors are found on the newly inserted board, the LEDs
for the DIMMs that are incorrect flash amber several seconds after the board is
inserted. An invalid DIMM error could occur because the DIMM is not the same type
as the corresponding DIMM on the existing board or because a DIMM is installed on
the new board that was unpopulated on the existing board.
