System Configuration

After you complete the hardware installation, you need to configure the equipment and
do some preliminary system configurations. This chapter covers how to use the Toolbox
application to set up your HTRD400 System for optimum performance. This includes:

•

Initial system configuration

•

Setting up user accounts, permission levels, and password protection

•

Ongoing system activities

Note

To ensure that you can read, write, and modify BusView data files and

application support files, we recommend that all BusView users be
administrator group members of your Microsoft Windows 2000, XP
Professional, or XP Home operating system.

We recommend that you close all other applications while running
Toolbox.

You can use the Toolbox application on your PC or laptop:

•

Offline (not connected to an HTRD400 Recorder)

Allows you to review the system configuration and make minor adjustments only
(for example, assign a name to a recorder).

•

Connected to an HTRD400 Recorder

Allows you to review the system configuration and modify the recorder setup but not
the camera setup.

•

Connected to an HTRD400 Recorder and one or more HTCD Digital Cameras

Allows you to set or modify all the system configuration tasks.
