Remote Desktop Operation

The HTRD400 Recorder can be used remotely as a desktop digital player. You can:

•

Remove the recorder from a bus, connect it to a PC or laptop, and then use the 
recorder as a desktop digital player to review video clips, play recorded digital video 
with audio, and retrieve recorded data

•

Connect the recorder to a PC or laptop and configure it prior to installing in a bus

Note

Desktop operation requires a Desktop Player Power Supply (HTRD4PS) 
available from Honeywell. 

To use the HTRD400 Recorder as a desktop digital player:

1.

Install the Toolbox and Player software on your PC or laptop (see 

Chapter 3

).

2.

Connect the recorder to your PC (see 

Chapter 4

).

3.

Press the POWER button on the front panel of the HTRD400 Recorder.

4.

Follow 

Chapter 8

 to retrieve and play recorded data.

To configure the recorder prior to installation in a bus:

1.

Install the Toolbox and Player software on your PC or laptop (see 

Chapter 3

).

2.

Connect the recorder to your PC (see 

Chapter 3

).

3.

Connect the recorder to the camera(s) you will be installing on the bus (see 

Chapter 2

).

4.

Follow 

Chapter 5

 to configure your recorder. 

5.

Save the configuration file to your PC, if desired, for uploading to other recorders in 
your network.
