5.7 Fault diagnostics
Fault Cause Remedy
Fan motor does not start No power detectable - Check wiring
Burner control is defect - Replace burner control
Fan is defect - Replace fan
Signal for stage 1 is off - Check temperature setting at the boiler thermostat
- Check wiring between burner
and boiler control
- Check function of the gas-air system
Fan is running; fault occurs during Flame appears during pre-purge - Check wiring of the solenoid valves
pre-purge - Check ionisation electrode (connection to ground)
Blower is running; fault occurs during Ionisation electrode is defect - Replace electrode bloc with cable
safety time Ionisation current is too low - Check position of the ionisation electrode
- Improve combustion
(increase/decrease gas volume flow)
Cable of the ionisation electrode is defect - Replace electrode bloc with cable
Missing protective ground between - Check wiring. To provide power supply, the burner
control box and burner casing must be connected to phase, neutral and
protective ground.
No flame - Non-ignitable mixture. Check setting of gas-air
system and the fan speed.
- Surface load (burner performance) is too low. Check
setting on gas-air system and check fan speed.
Gas-air system defect - Replace gas-air system
Shutoff valve of gas pipe is closed - Open shutoff valve
No ignition spark Ignition unit is defect - Replace ignition unit
Ignition electrodes are defect - Replace electrode bloc with cable
Ignition cables are defect - Replace electrode bloc with cable
Electrodes positioned incorrectly - Align electrodes according to fig. 10
Fault on burner cannot be eliminated; Burner control is defect - Replace burner control
blower runs with maximum speed Fan is defect - Replace fan
Speed control/signal generator is defect - Replace speed control/signal generator
Wiring between speed control/signal generator - Check wiring, if necessary replace cable
and fan is defect
