Setting of the wireless LAN encryption
A distinction must be made between the following terms:
Authentication:
■
Is a process during which the identity, for example of a person,
is determined by means of a particular feature. This can be, for
example, by means of a finger print, a password or some other
proof of authorisation.
Encryption:
■
Is a process during which a "plaint text" is transformed into a
"secret text" by means of an encryption routine (algorithm). One
or more codes can be used for this. Each individual encryption
method offers one or more possibilities for authentication.
NOTE
The encryption is deactivated as standard. We recommend,
►
however, that an encryption is always used for security reasons.
