Appendix H: Manufacturing a VACIE / Rack building

VACIE:

The VACIE (Voice Alarm Control and Indicating Equipment) of the eXentro Voice Alarm system complies
with EN54-16 when manufactured using a dedicated range of 19” racks, meeting Class 3k5 of
EN 60721-3-3:1995 as amended by EN 60721-3-3:1995/A2:1997 and which meet a minimum IP 30
rating according to EN 60529:1991 as amended by EN 60529:1991/A1:2000. To maintain validity of
the EN54-16 Declaration of Conformity; every new system must be manufactured using this same
series of 19” racks; mounting of any other products into this 19” rack besides the eXentro Voice Alarm
components & accessories (see below) is not allowed; wiring of all components must be performed
as specified by Gräf & Meyer. Refer to the 'CE-label procedure from Gräf & Meyer to obtain approval
for a certified VACIE.

Refer to the eXentro PA and C48 Safety and Installation Guide for more details when used in a VACIE.

Installation of VACIE:
The VACIE should be placed in a climate controlled technical room with an ambient temperature
of 21°C with a maximum humidity of 93%. The VACIE should be placed on a solid floor; use of 19”
rack wheels is not allowed.

Rack building:

The 19”rack will be built to order; the supplier will manufacture the rack, meeting the EN54-16
requirements (optional fan/thermostat, product carriers, battery tray, etc. will be supplied separately).

The 19” rack will be delivered with a plexi glass front door. Different locks & keys will be supplied
for the front door (cylinder lock EK333) and rear/side panels (cylinder lock 1242E), to meet the
different access levels.

When mounting the front door, rear-/side panels, make sure to connect all earth cables to the
rack chassis.

Ensure appropriate distance

between inlet and outlet duct
