Appendix H: Manufacturing a VACIE / Rack building
51
Blind panel requirements:
• ECU: add a 1U blind panel above and below unit
• PA: 2 amps can be put on top of each other, add a 1U blind panel above and below unit(s)
• C48: add a 1U blind panel above and below unit
• ATC: 1 unit can be mounted below a single ECU, PA or C48 unit
NOTE:
do not use ventilated blind panels!
Component carrier rails:
Carrier rails are available to mount components; a set of 2 carrier rails supports 1 or 2 components.
Batteries:
Depending on the battery capacity needed, four batteries (W x H x D max.: 440 x 220 x 170 mm) can
be mounted at the bottom of the system rack using thread ends, nuts and fixing brackets. If the
physical dimensions of the batteries are too large, mount 2 batteries (W x H x D max.: 505 x 220 x
240 mm) at the bottom of the rack and use the battery tray (see picture below), thread ends, nuts
and fixing brackets to mount the other 2 batteries (W x H x D max.: 505 x 220 x 240 mm).
The four 12 VDC batteries should be connected in series, parallel connection of batteries is not
allowed. Make sure enough space is kept free above the batteries to fit cabling & fuse (optional)
and for servicing.
The batteries, C48 and the components powered by these batteries & C48 should be mounted
in the same 19” rack. If multiple 19” racks are needed for more space; the 19”racks shall be placed
side by side and fixed to each other (as if it is one large 19" rack), to ensure that cables (for AC and
DC power), connecting components from the first rack to components in the other racks, stay
inside these 19” racks. If racks are not located next to each other (e.g. in a de-central system), it is
not allowed to make any 48 VDC connections (for backup power) between these racks: each rack
requires its own eXentro Charger C48& batteries and AC mains supply!
NOTE:
when the C48 is turned ON for the first time, make sure both 230 VAC and the 48 VDC
batteries are connected; if only the batteries are connected the C48 will not start up! When both
the AC mains supply and the batteries are present, one can hear a loud 'click' (large relay gets
activated) inside the C48 when turned ON.
Cable entry:
A cable entry is located at the rear-bottom of the 19” rack, which includes several breakout holes
(3x M62, 4x M32, 4x M16) to fit cable glands (not included).
To meet the IP30 rating: do not leave any of the holes open; close all openings which are not
used and fill up open space in cable glands!
