A single ECU unit can provide a maximum current of 500 mA to power emergency panels connected
to panel bus 1 and 2. See below table for maximum cable length at a certain power consumption,
before the 48 VDC at the end of the cable starts to drop below the minimum input voltage of an
emergency panel, when using:
When more current is needed to power more emergency panels or due to longer cable runs, split
the cable wiring and connect the DC power supply wires (feeded to the input of the emergency panel)
directly to the 48 VDC battery charger (5A outputs). Make sure to use a proper wire thickness which
can handle the required currents, avoiding high losses on the cable.
12. Hardware system configuration
12.1 Cable requirements
Make sure ALL cabling (going out of the system rack) is at least E30 fire retardant cabling:
refer to local standards for different requirements on fire resistance for cabling.
Use 110 ohm shielded CAT5e or CAT6 cabling to connect emergency panels to the ECU units and to link
ECU units to each other. When different type of cable is used make sure it is 110 ohm shielded cable!
Emergency panel connection – cabling pin out:
Make sure to connect the shield of the cable to the 19”rack (use a metal 'earth clamp' for a proper
earth connection)! Never unplug or insert the cable/connection from the emergency panels
when the eXentro ECU is powered ON!
The maximum distance of this connection is 500 meter, but will decrease depending on the
total power consumption of the number of emergency panels and expansion modules/cards
used. When using Cat5e/6 cable the maximum lenght is limited; change to thicker wire cables
when long cable runs are needed.
NOTE:
The pin layout of the eXentro ECU and
Emergeny panel connection are reversed!
