fixes, the V1 users are recommended to upgrade all their ETHER-1000 V1 units
to V3 at their earliest convenience.
The unit upgrade is carried out by executing a GE-supplied program while the PC
is connected to the ETHER-1000
unit‟s CI.
The users upgrading their ETHER-1000 system from V1 to V3 should expect
the following during the upgrade process:
1. Bridging
a) For D-PVLANs with QVLAN filtering disabled, normal operation is
maintained.
b) For D-PVLANs with QVLAN filtering enabled, untagged traffic is not
bridged. Tagged traffic is bridged normally. Untagged traffic will
resume after all the units are upgraded.
2. Protection Switching
Normal protection switching is supported.
3. STS-1 Path Alarms
Mismatch alarm is expected on some units. Note that this alarm will
appear only for V1-V3 connections along a TDM pipe using more than 16
STS-1s (so no alarms for V1-V1 connections, V3-V3 connections or for
TDM pipes with less than 16 STS-1s).
4. Mapping Priority
The V3 unit doesn't support the following Mapping Priority options
available in V1: 1-7
0-6, 0-7
0-3, 0-7
1-4, 0-7
2-5, 0-7
3-6. If a V1
unit configured with any of these settings is upgraded to V3, the user will
have to manually select one of the available options. Otherwise, the
default Priority 2 mapping is applied.
5. Port Type Assignments
Port Types are assigned automatically during the upgrade process.
a) Ports with QVLAN filtering disabled are upgraded to P-Access ports.
b) Ports with QVLAN filtering enabled and single QVLAN membership are
upgraded to Q-Access ports.
c) Ports with QVLAN filtering enabled and multiple QVLAN memberships
are upgraded to Q-Trunk ports.
