Context-Sensitive Help
When the mouse-pointer is positioned over a specific field label in the VistaNET
Unit View, the text-box located at the bottom of the view will provide general
information on the field. Also, for some fields, when the mouse-pointer is
positioned over the field itself, more info is provided on that specific
reading/selection. This is a useful tool for explaining the capabilities and options
of both programmable fields and read-only fields of the unit.
Configuration
The 86498-01 ETHER-1000 unit must be correctly configured as per the Node
Assignment Drawing. All software adjustable fields are detailed in the
Configuration Section of this manual. The user must ensure that all external
connections to the paddleboard are correct.
SPE Path Monitoring
The ETHER-1000 unit is capable of end-to-end STS-1 SPE path integrity
monitoring. For each STS-1 SPE received, the user can monitor:
-
The TDM Pipe# the SPE path is assigned to at the far end;
-
The total number of SPE slots assigned to the TDM pipe at the far end;
-
The TDM pipe‟s SPE time slot into which the STS-1 SPE is mapped at the
far end (to ensure the SPEs are received in proper sequence).
-
The Path Overhead‟s H4 byte content. The H4 byte‟s 4 most-significant
bits can be set to a user selectable value so that a validity of the SPE path
can be confirmed. This end-to-end SPE path monitoring is performed
through the VistaNET software.
Network Status Monitoring
The unit continuously reports the total number of visible ETHER-1000 units
through each of its Line ports, and whether the farthest visible unit is the local
unit (ring network), a terminal/end unit (linear network) or there is a path break
upstream.
