Daily cleaning behind the upper grate is required. 
Heating elements are exposed.

Latch system is not required as an upper cast iron grate is 
sealed to the cowl assembly. The upper grate cannot be 
dropped down or opened by operators for the cleaning of the 
backside of the cook surface.
Heaters are embedded and sealed in the cowl assembly.
