Engine cranks but runs unevenly (rough idling) or stall
Possible fault Remedy
(Almost) empty fuel tank. Fill the tank.
Wrong fuel quality or contaminated fuel.
Check fuel. Drain and flush fuel tank. Replace with new
fuel.
Clogged fuel supply line . Check/clean.
Vent line of fuel supply tank clogged. Check/clean.
Air in fuel supply system. Check and bleed.
Fuel filter clogged with water and/or contamination. Check or replace.
Leaking in the fuel supply line or fuel injection line
Check / replace.
Low battery voltage Recharge/ replace
Fuel high pressure line regulator fault Replace
Faulty fuel injection injectors/pump. Check, replace if required.
Clogged exhaust. Check .
Engine does not reach maximum rpm under load
Possible fault Remedy
Engine overloaded.
Check the propeller size /incorrect propeller
Dirty hull/propeller Clean
Insufficient comburent air. Check .
Air in fuel supply system. Check and bleed.
Fuel filter clogged with water and/or contamination. Check or replace.
Fuel pre filter clogged Clean /replace.
Leaking in the fuel supply line or fuel injection line Check / replace.
Incorrect lube oil SAE class or quality for ambient
temperature.
Replace.
Wrong fuel quality or contaminated fuel.
Check fuel. Drain and flush fuel tank. Replace with new
fuel.
Oil level too high. Reduce the level.
Leak in inlet manifold. Dirty intercooler. Check /replace and clean
Clogged exhaust. Check/clean.
Damaged turbocharger Replace.
Dirty injectors Check, replace if required.
Transmission. Check.
Engine overheat
Possible fault Remedy
Seacock closed Open.
Leaks in the sea water suction system. Check / replace.
Sea water filter clogged. Check/clean.
Sea water impeller damaged Check / replace.
Coolant level too low Check / fill up.
Leaks in the coolant circuit. Check .
Heat exchanger damaged or clogged by rubber parts of the damaged
impeller.
Check/clean.
Oil level too high. Reduce the level.
Oil level too low. Raise the level.
Insufficient comburent air. Check/clean the filter.
Motor becomes apparently overheated as a result of faulty temperature
switch, sensor or meter.
Check / replace.
Faulty thermostat . Check / replace.
Faulty coolant pump Check/clean.
Faulty oil filter/dirty oil exchanger. Replace.
Faulty turbo compressor. Check /replace
