Not all cylinders are working
Possible fault Remedy
Air in fuel supply system. Check and bleed.
Fuel filter clogged with water and/or contamination. Check or replace.
Leaking in the fuel supply line or fuel injection line
Check / replace.
Faulty injectors. Check, replace if required.
Locked suction valves. Check, replace if required.
Low oil pressure
Possible fault Remedy
Oil level too low. Raise the level.
Excessive inclination of engine. Check / Adjust.
Oil pressure apparently too low due to faulty oil pressure switch, sensor
or meter.
Check /replace
Incorrect lube oil SAE class or quality for ambient temperature.
Replace.
Oil leaks . Check /replace
Clogged oil filter Replace.
Faulty oil pump Repair / replace.
Excessive oil consumption
Possible fault Remedy
Oil level too high. Reduce the level.
Excessive inclination of engine. Check / Adjust.
Insufficient comburent air. Check .
Incorrect lube oil SAE class or quality for ambient
temperature.
Replace.
Engine overloaded. Check size of propeller.
Leak in lubricating oil system. Repair / replace.
Oil steams condenser clogged . Replace
Turbocharger oil leaks . Replace or repair.
Excessive fuel consumption
Possible fault Remedy
Incorrect fuel quality or dirty fuel.
Check fuel. Drain and rinse fuel tank. Replace with new
fuel.
Insufficient comburent air. Check .
Fuel leaks . Check and repair.
Faulty injector/injector pump. Check, replace if required.
Black exhaust smoke (idling)
Possible fault Remedy
Oil level too high. Reduce the level.
Excessive inclination of engine. Check / Adjust.
Faulty injectors/sprayers. Check / replace.
Blue exhaust smoke (idling)
Possible fault Remedy
Oil level too high. Reduce the level.
Leaking from turbo compressor oil seal. Check /replace the seal
Black exhaust smoke (at load)
Possible fault Remedy
Insufficient intake air, dirty air filter. Check/clean.
Leak in the air manifold. Check / replace.
Dirty intercooler. Check/clean.
Incorrect oil level . Check.
Engine overloaded, max. rpm is not reached. Check sizes of propeller and/or boat weight.
Engine overloaded, dirty propeller -boat hull, excessive
load on-board.
Check and clean if required.
Turbocharger actuator blocked Unblock / replace.
Faulty turbo compressor. Check / replace.
