Fast Edge Adjustment for the GHz Module

The GHz module consists of two boards, A93 and A92. The fast edge is generated on
A92. There are two adjustments for the fast edge:

•

 

R175 adjusts the edge trigger level.

•

 

R188 adjusts the amplitude of the porch signal on which the fast edge signal rides.

While R175 can be adjusted through a hole in the machined cover, adjusting R188
requires that the A92 cover be removed.

Before the module is taken apart, the fast edge should be checked against the
specifications when viewed through a scope set to 1 ns/division. If no signal above the
porch appears, try adjusting R175. Failure of the edge to appear above the porch may
indicate that R188 also needs adjustment.

A typical fast edge waveform looks like Figure 5-2. Notice how the fast edge signal rides
on top of a porch signal.
