Black-out System Installation

Leading edge extrusions are installed at the "leading edges" of the black-out
panels (installed later). Orient the leading edges so that the rubber sealing gasket
will be FACING the keder sealing strip in each bay, as shown in diagram below.
IMPORTANT:
Due to the 20' lengths of the 113318 leading edges, it is
recommended that the horizontal sections of the leading edges be temporarily
installed BEFORE installing the monofilament wires to avoid the obstruction.
ATTENTION:
Reference diagrams below and on following page for further installation details.
1. At each bay, measure the distance between the inside corners of where the vertical headers meet the horizontal
headers.
2. Measure, cut to fit, and splice a horizontal section of leading edge that equals the distance measured in the
previous step. 113318 sections are spliced used 113311 splice brackets. File sharp edges of cut extrusion as
needed.
Discarded cut sections of 113318 will need to be utilized in other areas. Keep and use as needed.
3. Reinforce the splices with 107777 splice plates and Tek screws. Ensure that Tek screws do not protrude up
through the 113318 extrusion.
4. Slide a 50' section of 115226 rubber gasket into the rubber gasket channel on the leading edges, leaving
approximately 9' of gasket dangling from either end.
5. With assistance, or a lift machine, hoist the assembled horizontal leading edge section into place, with the rubber
gasket facing the keder sealing strip. Outer edges will rest on corner cables. Place as close to the rafter chord
as possible, and using provided 115199 tape, temporarily tape the leading edge to the rafter chord. Tape will be
removed after monofilament wires have been installed.
6. Repeat for each bay.
