2.5.2 Paper Feeder (PL4.1 ~ 3)
2.5.2.1 Main Functions
SWITCH SIZE TRAY1 (PL4.2.8)
SWITCH SIZE TRAY 1 detects the presence/absence of the tray and the
size of the paper.
SENSOR NO/LOW PAPER (No paper Sensor) (PL4.3.4)
Detects the presence/absence of paper inside the tray by change in the
actuator position. (No paper: sensor blocked)
SENSOR NO/LOW PAPER (Low Paper Sensor) (PL4.3.4)
The actuator lowers according to the level of paper in the tray. When the
actuator descends to a certain level, the sensor becomes shaded, thereby
allowing detection of the low quantity of paper.
The actuator position can be seen from the front of the tray, allowing a
rough estimate of remaining paper.
SOLENOID FEED TRAY1 (PL4.3.17)
The ROLL FEED ASSY (PL4.3.3) motion (rotating/stopped) is controlled
by the GEAR FEED (PL4.3.11, PL4.3.12) rotation.
CLUTCH ASSY TURN TRAY1 (PL4.3.18)
Driving force from the DRIVE ASSY MAIN (PL14.1.2) is transferred to the
ROLL ASSY TURN (PL4.3.21).
ROLL ASSY FEED (PL4.3.3)
When the SOLENOID FEED TRAY 1 moves, force from the SPRING
FEED (PL4.3.9, PL4.3.10) causes the GEAR FEED and GEAR IDLER
FEED (PL4.3.14) to engage, the ROLL ASSY FEED begins rotating by
receiving driving force from the DRIVE ASSY MAIN, and the ROLL ASSY
(PICK UP ASSY) (PL4.3.25) feeds a sheet of paper from the tray. A notch
in the GEAR FEED causes the GEAR FEED and GEAR IDLER FEED to
disengage after one revolution, cutting the transfer of force and stopping
rotation of the ROLL ASSY FEED. In this way, one sheet of paper is fed at
a time.
ROLL ASSY TURN (PL4.3.21)
ROLL ASSY TURN begins turning by receiving driving force from DRIVE
ASSY MAIN through CLUTCH ASSY TURN TRAY 1 and conveys the
paper fed from the tray to the CHUTE REGI (Regi Roll) (PL10.1.14). (See
Section 2.5.8 Xerographics)
SENSOR HUM TEMP (PL4.2.4)
Detects temperature and humidity inside the printer.
The printer adjusts the charge voltage, the supply voltage to each transfer
roller, and the developer bias according to the detected temperature and
humidity.
