The following documentation and files will be necessary in order to 
perform the procedures described in this chapter:

  Emergency Flash ROM Boot Procedure  - refer to Appendix A 

of this Service Manual.  The files for this procedure are 
available on the 

CADJET 2

 Utilities Disk which is provided with 

the plotter.  The Utilities Disk may also be obtained from 

ENCAD’s

 Technical Support and Service BBS (see Chapter 1, 

Section 3.0 of this manual).  To download the Utilities Disk 
from the BBS, follow the instructions given below under 
“Downloading Files From the BBS.”  This procedure is used to 
download the firmware if the plotter is “brain dead” (i.e., the 
Flash EPROM is blank or corrupt).

  Printer Firmware Upgrade Procedure  - refer to Appendix B of 

this Service Manual.  The files for this procedure are included 
on the 

CADJET 2

 Utilities Disk.  This procedure is used to 

download the firmware if the plotter does not have the current 
version of the firmware (the Flash EPROM is 

not

 blank or 

corrupt).

  Line Quality Acceptance Standards  - 

ENCAD

 ships a “Gold 

Standard” plot with each plotter.  This is a Master Plot sample 
which can be used for comparison purposes when you are 
servicing a plotter.  Section 14.0 gives the instructions for 
performing the “Line Quality Plot (Computer) Test.”  The results 
of this test should be compared to the “Gold Standard” shipped 
with each plotter.  In order to perform this test, you will need to 
download the following files from the BBS:
