1. Move the Carriage Assembly to the center of the Platen. Clean
the top and bottom parts of the Service Station Assembly per the
procedure in Chapter 3. Remove the top of the Service Station
Assembly before removing the bottom of the Service Station
Assembly.
2. Use a #1 Phillips screwdriver to remove the right Cam Actuator.
See Figure Chapter 5 .15.
3. The Service Station Bottom is held in place by two plastic tabs
underneath the rim of the Service Station Bottom. See
Figure Chapter 5 .15. Place the tip of the 1/8” x 6” Slotted
screwdriver between the front of the Y-Arm and the back rim of the
Service Station Bottom and carefully turn the screwdriver to create
enough space for the tip of the 1/4” x 6” Slotted screwdriver. Turn
the 1/4” x 6” Slotted screwdriver until the back of the Service
Station Bottom pops out of the opening in the Platen.
4. Pull up slightly on the right end of the Service Station Bottom with
the Machinist Scriber.
5. Push in with the 1/4” x 6” Slotted screwdriver on the front edge of
the Service Station Bottom until the front tab clears the opening in
the Platen.
6. Pull up with your fingers (or with the Machinist Scriber) on the right
end of the Service Station Bottom while lifting up the left front
edge of the Service Station Bottom with your 1/4” x 6” Slotted
screwdriver until the Service Station Bottom is out of the Platen.
NOTE
Note: As you remove the Service Station Bottom, you may want to
place a piece of paper or an index card underneath your
screwdriver to avoid scratching the paint on the Platen. Also,
be careful not to exert too much force in order to avoid
breaking the Service Station Bottom.
