Remove the heat sink.

Set the heat sink upside down on the work surface to avoid contaminating
the thermal grease.

Use a clean lint-free cloth to remove any thermal grease from the surface of
the processor shield.

6

Pull the socket-release lever straight up until the processor is released
from the socket. See Figure 3-20 (P owerEdge M600) or Figure 3-21
(PowerEdge M905, M805, or M605).
