This document describes the operation of the XD10 with V2.1 or above using SMPTE TC to play film
content (Soundtrack and/or access material).

1 Show Selection
The XD10 selects the soundtrack file based on the serial number and reel number. The serial number can
be defined either through the SMPTE user bits, or by defining it through the menus.
2 Serial Number
Serial Number Menu
The user can enter the serial number through the XD10 menus.
The example below shows the serial number set to 65123. The serial number from the menu overrides the
serial number from the userbits.

Using Userbits
The serial number menu is set to 00000, then the serial number is read from the userbit in the SMPTE TC.
The four hexadecimal characters of the userbits are converted to the serial number.
Example:
1. The DTS soundtrack has serial number 65123.
2. Set the serial number menu to 00000.
3. Convert 65123 to hex and get FE63.
4. Set the userbits for the SMPTE timecode source to be FE:63:00:00.
For example, to play content for serial number 65123, the timecode should have the userbits set to.
Note : Serial number menu (see below) must be set to 00000 in order to use userbits for the serial
number.
