OPTIC INTERFACE CARDS
DM16E1 and DM4E1 have two slots for aggregate cards on the rear panel. Any combination of interfaces
is allowed.
The different types of cards have two basic distinctions. The first one refers to the number of fibers and
operating wavelengths:
•
Two fibers (one for TX and one for RX) – TWO FIBERS. Transmit and receive at 1310 nm. TX
and RX at 1550 nm are also available.
•
One fiber (both TX and RX on the same fiber) – MONOFIBER. Transmits at 1310 nm and
receives at 1550 nm or vice-versa, over the same fiber. Transmission and reception at 1310 nm over the
same fiber is also available. This latter option has a number of disadvantages, such as the need for APC
connectors all along the fiber, shorter wavelength and poorer performance, etc.
The second characteristic refers to laser transmission power: short and long ranges available.
6.1. Optic Aggregate Cards Available:
DM16E1-MS13 – Optic E3 interface over 2 multi mode fibers, short range.
DM16E1-SS13 – Optic E3 interface over 2 singlemode TX fibers at 1310 nm, short range, nominal power:
–15dBm.
DM16E1-SS15 – Optic E3 interface over 2 singlemode TX fibers at 1550 nm, short wavelength, nominal
power: –15dBm.
DM16E1-SL13 – Optic E3 interface over 2 singlemode TX fibers at 1310 nm, long wavelength, nominal
power: –5dBm.
DM16E1-SL15 – Optic E3 interface over 2 singlemode TX fibers at 1550 nm, long wavelength, nominal
power: –5dBm.
DM16E1-SLx15 – Interface E3 ótica em 2 fibras singlemode tx em 1550nm, longo alcance, potência
nominal de 0dBm.
DM16E1-SSB13 – Optic E3 interface over 1 singlemode fiber at 1310 nm TX and 1550 nm RX, short
wavelength, nominal power: –15dBm.
DM16E1-SSB15 – Optic E3 interface over 1 singlemode fiber at 1550 nm TX and 1310 nm RX, short
wavelength, nominal power: –15dBm.
DM16E1-SLB13 – Optic E3 interface over 1 singlemode fiber at 1310 nm TX and 1550 nm RX, long
wavelength, nominal power: –5dBm.
In case of monofiber links, one of the ends should transmit data at 1310nm, and the other at 1550nm,
except when cards that transmit and receive at 1310nm are being used.
Optic cards are always supplied with SC-PC connectors, even in cases of cards for use with bidirectional
fiber – single fiber (except for TX and RX at 1310nm, which uses SC-APC).
