DM16E1 / DM4E1 Operation and Installation Manual - 204-4001-19
103
To set which and how many 2M channels are used by the bridge, the channel table must be set
accordingly. In the DM4E1, in order to use bridge on 2M (G.703) tributaries, indicators B1, B2, B3 or B4
will be used in the tributary table. These indicators may be set to any position within the table. The pass-
through follows the same sense of the aggregate.
To connect 2 LANs, configure the bridge topology as point to point. To connect 3 or more LANs, configure
the bridge topology as ring.
Each channel configured as a bridge may be verified through the bridge status menu, via terminal. All
selected channels must indicate synchronization OK (S).
Connect the Ethernet cable to the 10/100BaseT (RJ45) interface on the rear panel.
Please note that the Ethernet remote bridge cannot be used in conjunction with the electric E3 internal
cards. When used with V.35, the CT106, CT107 and CT109 control signals must be ignored.
15.13. V.35-V.36/V.11 Interface
The equipment is factory preset to V.35. Open it to change straps only when the V.36/V.11 interface is
used.
Connect the cables to the DB25 connector in the rear panel.
All other configurations can be made locally or remotely.
V.35 can be used together with the Ethernet remote bridge or directed to the router in optic modem
topologies, provided its CT106, CT107 and CT109 control signals are ignored. In this case, these signals
may not correspond to the correct status of the interface.
15.14. Routing
Configurations can be done from local or remote devices and may be modified in the field. However it is
advisable to make initial adjustments prior to installation.
If the default gateway is set to operate with PPP or Frame Relay, it is recommended to set it up as soon as
possible because these configurations require a system reset.
Devices are factory preset as follows: LAN is set as IP 192.168.0.25 and the sub-net mask is set as
255.255.255.0. These settings must be changed to the effective address and sub-net as required.
The WAN1 port is factory preset as IP 192.168.1.25 and the sub-net mask is set as 255.255.255.0. These
settings must also be changed as required for access to the devices.
The WAN2 port is factory preset as IP 192.168.2.25 and the sub-net mask is set as 255.255.255.0. These
settings must also be changed as required for access to the devices.
DLCIs must also be configured when Frame Relay is used.
RIP and NAT must be configured as well.
Static routes may be modified or inserted remotely via the management system.
For LAN use, connect the Ethernet cable to the 10BaseT (RJ45) interface on the rear panel.
15.15. Service Channel
The Service Channel is available on point to point, ring and line topologies, including mixed DM16E1 and
DM4E1 rings.
All devices included in the topology must have its aggregate already synchronized.
An ordinary telephone set may be attached to the RJ11 connector available in the front panel.
When the telephone set goes off hook, all other devices will emit sound and light indicator signs. The first
telephone set that goes off-hook will close the link and the other sets will be muted.
