If the system is dialing out, Comfort waits for a voice reply before giving
the Alarm Message. Once the Alarm Message is given, Comfort waits for
around 20 seconds to get a valid sign-in code. If no sign-in code is
received, you will hear "Thank You, Good bye". The signal strength at
your location may be low, especially indoors. Try to call and sign in at
other locations. If the problem persists, call your installer. Also, some
cellular phones have a setting for DTMF. Make sure that this is set to ON
I have telephone services which use the * key
Services provided by telephone companies like call Forwarding may
require the * key to be pressed as part of the sequence for turning the
service on and off. This will conflict with Comfort as the * key followed by
the user code and # key is used to access the voice menu. When you
need to use * to access other phone services, simply wait for more than
6 seconds before pressing *, as Comfort recognizes the * key only during
the first 6 seconds.
What if I have Call Forwarding on my telephone
If your telephone is forwarded to another number, your telephone will
not ring, and Comfort will not be able to answer calls. You will not be
able to remotely access Comfort, and other callers will not be able to
leave messages on Comfort’s answering machine.
What if I have an external Answering Machine
If you have an external answering machine connected to your phone
line, set Comfort for number of Rings to answer the call so that the other
answering machine answers first. This is done in Program menu 1,1.
Turn on Answering Machine Bypass in Program Menu 1,0 (Answering
Machine Bypass) and press 1 for On. If you want to access Comfort
remotely, let the phone ring once and hang up. Call again so that the
phone rings 10 to 25 seconds after you hang up. Comfort will answer the
call immediately to allow you to sign in and access the Voice Menu.
If I remotely arm to Away Mode, is Exit necessary?
No, Comfort knows that no one is in the premises, so it is not necessary
to open and close the door. The system will be armed after 6 seconds if
there are no open zones.
Telephone Line/ADSL Issues
Telephone Line Connections
Comfort can only be connected to one incoming telephone line. Comfort
must be connected to the incoming telephone line, before any other
telephones. Telephones must be connected to Comfort’s TEL OUT
connector. This is so that in the event of an alarm, Comfort can seize the
telephone line to dial to the programmed telephone numbers. If you
have a new telephone line or telephone extensions installed, make sure
that this rule is followed by the contractor who does the installation. If in
