Assembling the Drive Pipes
1. Starting at one end of the system, arrange the drive pipe (50) sections on the track end-to-end with
the swaged ends (117) non-adjacent. (To assemble drive pipe (50) on the ground, See
.) Place the lock motor drive at the end where the lock motor (90) will be installed.
IMPORTANT:
There is a hook and loop strip (99) laminated to each pipe section. Keep the hook and
loop strips (99) lined up when connecting the pipe sections, so that a continuous
straight hook and loop strip (99) is running for the entire length of the drive pipe (50).
2. Couple pipe sections together by sliding the swaged end (117) of one section into the adjacent pipe.
NOTE:
It may be necessary to straighten out the dimples in the ends of the pipes with hammer,
which were created when the pipe sections were cut.
3. Attach the sections together by installing the stainless steel pop rivets (101).
4. Before assembling the last drive pipe (50) at the end opposite to the motor, check the length of the
drive pipe (50). If necessary, cut the drive pipe (50). Allow 0.250" minimum, 0.375" maximum from
the inside wall of the bearing mount (43) attachment to the end of the drive pipe (50).
NOTE:
Pop rivet installation: Drill 3/16" (4.8 mm) diameter holes through the pipe and swaged end
(117) at the joint of two pipe sections. At each joint, drill two holes through the pipe and loop
strip (99) and another two holes around the pipe to each side of the joint as shown in
. Insert the pop rivets (101) through these holes to fasten the pipe sections
together.
NOTE:
Keep hook and loop strips (99) aligned when assembling the drive pipe (50).
NOTE:
