Assembling the Drive Pipes (For Tubular Motor)
1. Starting at one end of the system, arrange the drive pipe (50) sections on the ground end-to-end
with the swaged ends (117) non-adjacent. Place the slotted section of the drive pipe (50) at the end
of the assembly where the tubular motor (89) will be installed.
IMPORTANT:
There is a hook and loop strip (99) laminated to each pipe section. Keep the hook and
loop strips (99) lined up when connecting the pipe sections, so that a continuous
straight hook and loop strip (99) is running for the entire length of the drive pipe (50).
2. Couple pipe sections together by sliding the swaged end (117) of one section into the adjacent pipe.
NOTE:
It might be necessary to straighten out the dimples in the ends of the pipes with a hammer,
which were created when the pipe sections were cut.
3. Attach the sections together by installing stainless steel pop rivets (101).
NOTE:
Pop rivet installation: Drill 3/16" (4.8 mm) diameter holes through the pipe and swaged end
(117) at the joint of two pipe sections. At each joint, drill two holes about 2" (5.08 cm) apart
on each side of the pipe as shown in
. Insert the rivets (101) through
these holes to fasten the pipe sections together.
NOTE:
Keep hook and loop strips (99) aligned when assembling the drive pipes (50).
