Front Panel Keypad
The front panel keypad permits local operation of the modem. The keypad consists of six
keys (Figure 3-2).

CLEAR

Each key provides one or more logical functions. These functions are defined in the
following table.
ENTER
This key is used to select a displayed function or to execute a modem configuration change.
CLEAR
This key is used to back out of a selection or to cancel a configuration change which has not been
executed using [ENTER]. Pressing [CLEAR] generally returns the display to the previous selection.
Left and Right
Diamond Keys

These keys are used to move to the next selection or to move the cursor for certain functions.

Top and Bottom
Diamond Keys

These keys are used primarily to change configuration data (numbers). At times, they are also used to
move from one section to another.

] are used to indicate top and bottom diamond keys.
The modem responds by beeping whenever a key is pressed:
•
A single beep indicates a valid entry and the appropriate action was taken.
•
A double beep indicates an invalid entry or a parameter is not available for
operation.
