1 General information
1.1 Introduction
This controller has been developed for the control of medium to large 3 stage compressors with 3 step
unloading. This model is designed to control the compressor using an analogue signal from a system
pressure transducers rather than pressure switches. It allows the load pressure to be easily reset and can
control the pressure to a much tighter tolerance. Stage pressure transducers and temperature sensors are
used to monitor the correct operation of the compressor and replace stage pressure and temperature
switches There are also several digital inputs and outputs to control and monitor auxiliary equipment. The
controller can also be connected to a RS485 communication line for remote control and remote monitoring.
Two 3-digit LCD displays and an alphanumeric display with 2 lines of 16 characters permanently show the
behavior of the compressor. The system pressure and delivered air temperature are permanently
displayed. The other display normally shows the status of compressor, but will display warning and trip
faults if they occur. All the analogue pressure and temperature readings, hours run, time to service, trip and
timer settings and fault history can also be displayed. There is an option of selecting 5 display languages.
The controller also operates the timed drainage, run on timer for unloaded running and limits the number of
motor starts per hour. It has relays for the digital outputs and therefore any control voltage up to 240v can
be used, but because of the high power of these compressors 110v is recommended. The motor windings
thermistor can be connected directly into the controller.
Other features include the ability to program automatic starting and stopping times of the compressor on a
weekly bases. The start/stop and load/unload control can easily be switched from local to remote. Auto
restart after a power failure is an option. All the settings are easily changed, but some require access codes
to give security.
User interface
The controller is equipped with three bottom-view-side-lighted displays, 8 push buttons and 4 LEDS.
