FAULT POSSIBLE CAUSE RECOMMENDATION
No electrical supply to control panel. Check that isolator is in ON
position. Check for blown fuse.
Faulty isolator on control panel. Check for voltage on each phase
from isolator. Dismantle, clean,
repair or renew as necessary.
Loose electrical connections. Check tightness of all electrical
connections. Check for signs of
overheating or blackening of
cables at terminals.
Failure of control circuit fuse Check and replace fuse as
necessary.
Failure of replacement fuse Check control system for short
circuits.
Rest button on control panel not
engaged. Press reset button.
Current overload in control panel
tripped. Reset current overload.
Emergency stop button locked in. Check all emergency stop
buttons are disengaged.
Manual/Auto switch set to off
position. Set to manual or auto as
required.
Compressor previously tripped on
Protection Device Press reset button to clear.

Compressor will not start?
Failure of the pressure switch Remove and test operation.
Replace as necessary.
11.2 On Starting electric
motor 'hums'

Motor single phasing. Check voltage on all three
phases
For START~DELTA starting: STAR
time too long Reduce to correct level. 11.3
Compressor begins to slow
down on 'start'
On BELT DRIVEN units: belts loose Tighten belts to correct tension
Low oil pressure switch protection

Check crankcase oil level. Check
for oil leaks, loose piping and
obstructions on suction to oil
pump.
Prime pump suction. Check
operation of pump drive.
Current overload set too low. Check and adjust as necessary
STAR~DELTA timer set too low Check and adjust as necessary

alternative starting methods.
Low suction gas pressure switch
operates No or low gas supply pressure.
Check gas supply, inlet solenoid
