viscosity in the event of brief

Using engine oils of a viscosity
other than those recommended
could result in engine damage.
Engine Oil Additives
Your engine should not need any
extra additives if you use the
recommended oil quality and
change the oil at recommended
intervals.
NOTICE
Use of additives could damage
the engine.
See your dealer for information on
additives.
Consult your dealer if you think
your engine has an oil-related
problem.
Engine Oil Change Intervals
CAUTION
Changing the engine oil and
filter requires special skills, tools
and equipment.
It is recommended that you
have your dealer perform this
service.
Before attempting any service
procedure yourself, make sure
that you are very familiar with it
and that you are confident you
can complete it safely.
Otherwise, you could be
injured or your vehicle could be
damaged.

CAUTION
Make sure you dispose of
materials in accordance with
environmental protection
regulations to help protect the
environment and your health.
Engine oil loses its ability to
lubricate when contaminated. Be
sure to change your engine oil
according to the maintenance
schedule.
Be sure to replace the engine oil
filter each time you change engine
oil.
Under severe conditions, change
the oil and oil filter more frequent-
ly than is recommended in the
standard maintenance schedule.
Severe conditions include, but are
not limited to:
• frequent cold starting
• frequent driving when the
outside temperature remains
below freezing
• frequent driving in stop and go
traffic
• frequent short trips
• prolonged idling
• frequent low-speed driving
• driving in dusty areas
Engine Coolant
CAUTION
If your engine overheats, see
"Engine Overheating" in
Section 5. Continued operation
of the overheated engine even
for a short time,
may result in
a fire and the possibility of
personal injury and/or severe
vehicle damage.
CAUTION
Steam and scalding liquids from
a hot cooling system can blow
out and burn you badly. Never
turn the cap when the engine
and cooling system are hot.
