CAUTION
Leaving children, helpless
adults, or pets in a vehicle
with the windows closed is
dangerous. They could be
overcome by extreme heat and
could suffer permanent injuries
or even death from heat stroke.
Never leave a child, a helpless
adult, or a pet alone in a
vehicle, especially with the
windows closed in warm or hot
weather.
5. Close all doors (including the
trunk or liftgate and the
hood).
Note:
- The system can be activated
even if the windows are
open. Close all the windows
and doors before leaving the
vehicle.
CAUTION
Do not lock the vehicle
using the remote keyless entry
transmitter if anyone is to be
left inside the vehicle.
6. Lock the vehicle with the
remote keyless entry system.
The indicator light will flash on
the transmitter to show that it
is operational.
All doors will lock, the hazard
lights will flash once, and the
antitheft system will be armed.
The Security System Light should
flash to indicate the theft deterrent
system is armed.
See "Security System Light" in
Section 1 for more information.

Alarm Warning
If this theft deterrent system is
armed, the alarm will go off any
time a door, the trunk or liftgate,
or the hood is opened without
using the key or keyless entry
transmitter.
To turn off the alarm:
• Sedan
Press the lock/unlock button
on the remote keyless entry
transmitter or open either the
driver or front passenger door
with a key.
Press the trunk release
button on the keyless entry
transmitter.
• Hatchback
Press the lock or unlock button
on the remote keyless entry
transmitter or open either the
driver or front passenger door
with a key.
• Or wait 28 seconds and the
alarm will automatically stop.
The system will lock the doors
and reset the armed theft
deterrent system.
If the system does not operate as
described above, see your dealer
for service.
Disarming the System
To disarm the system upon your
return to the vehicle:
• Sedan
Press the lock/unlock button
on the remote keyless entry
transmitter or open either the
driver or front passenger door
with a key.
• Hatchback
Press the lock or unlock button
on the remote keyless entry
transmitter or open either the
driver or front passenger door
with a key.
