AIR BAG LIGHT
If the air bag light does not flash
when the ignition is turned on, or
if it stays on, comes on while you
are driving, or flashes while you
are driving, there may be a
problem with the air bag system.
Have the vehicle serviced right
away.
See your dealer for service.
See "Indicator and Warning Lights"
in Section 1 for more information
on the air bag light.
CAUTION
If the air bag light stays on or
comes on while you are driving,
there may be a problem with
this system. The air bags may
not inflate in a crash, or they
may inflate even when there
hasn’t been a crash. To avoid
injury to yourself or others,
have the vehicle serviced right
away.
Passenger Air Bags
Deactivation Switch (If
equipped)
CAUTION
A child in a rear-facing child
restraint in a front passenger
seating position could be
seriously injured or killed if the
right front passenger's frontal
or seat-mounted side-impact
air bags inflate. This is because
the back of the restraint would
be very close to the inflating air
bag.
It is recommended that a
rear-facing child restraint be
secured in the rear seat, even if
the air bags are turned off.

Section 2
On some vehicles, there may be a
passenger air bag deactivation
switch. This switch should only be
used when you need to secure a
rear-facing child restraint in the
right front passenger seat or
when circumstances may cause
the potential harm from air bag
inflation to pose a greater risk to
the passenger than the potential
harm of hitting the instrument
panel during a collision.
The switch is in the glove box.
To deactivate the passenger’s air
bags, insert your ignition key into
the switch, push in, and turn the
key to the off position.
The passenger’s front and
side-impact (if equipped) air bags
will be turned off.
The passenger air bags "off"
indicator light turns on and stays
on until the air bags are
reactivated.
The indicator light is located on
the instrument panel near the
clock.
To reactivate the air bags, insert
your ignition key into the switch,
push in, and turn the key to the on
position.
