Leaving children, helpless
adults, or pets in a vehicle with
the windows closed is danger-
ous. They could be overcome
by extreme heat and could
suffer permanent injuries or
even death from heat stroke.
Never leave a child, a helpless
adult, or a pet alone in a vehi-
cle, especially with the windows
closed in warm or hot weather.
NOTICE
Lock all doors and take the key
with you when you leave the
vehicle unattended.
The vehicle comes with two
identical double-sided keys.
The key has a code number
stamped on the key number plate

. The key code number tells your
dealer how to make extra keys.
Keep the number plate in a safe
place, not in the vehicle.
If you lose your keys, contact your
dealer to obtain new ones.
The replacement key must have a
transponder embedded in it.
This deters unauthorized persons
from obtaining a duplicate key.

later in this section for more
information.

THEFT DETERRENT
SYSTEM
Immobilizer (If equipped)
Your vehicle may be equipped
with an immobilizer system.
The ignition key has a transponder
imbedded in it.
The transponder is electronically
coded to match a decoder in your
vehicle.
The system is armed when the key
is removed from the ignition.

In order to discourage vehicle
theft, the system will not allow the
starter and fuel circuits to operate
if a damaged or wrong key has
been used in an attempt to start
the vehicle.
Take care not to damage the key,
or it may not start the engine.
If the engine does not start, see
your dealer for service.
Content Theft Deterrent
System (If equipped)
You must use the remote keyless
entry transmitter to activate the
anti-theft mode.
See "Remote Keyless Entry" later in
this section for more information.
Note:
The system can be activated
even if windows are open.
Close all windows and doors
before leaving the vehicle.
Arming the System
To arm the system:
1. Close the windows.
2. Turn the ignition to
LOCK .
If the key is in the ignition, the
anti-theft system will not arm.
3. Remove the key from the
ignition.
4. Have all passengers get out of
the vehicle.
